Welcome to the City of New Orleans...
Every time I wander into the city of New Orleans, I get an overwhelming sense of home. Almost like its where im supposed to be. This Halloween weekend happen to be the weekend of the Voodoo Music Experience as well. It had a great time written all over it. Anyways, we arrived in Slidell a little after 8. My keen sense of direction led me up and down and all around where we needed to be. After praying to Morgan Freeman we finally arrived to the bed and breakfast. Oh, yeah we stayed at a bed and breakfast. Just so you know....Turning on to this road was like turning into a scene from a scary movie. Almost no light, winding road, trees as far as the eye can see. Yeah, creepy as hell. The bed and breakfast was about half a mile down the road from there, also right out of the scene of a scary movie. Pulling up to the house was almost like signing a death wish. Once we gathered the courage to enter, we bravely walked towards the door.....
Inside was a very nice couple. They came up and greeted us, and all seemed normal....for now. Our room was reminiscent of an elder ladies bedroom. But still nice. Being that it was my first time there i thought every thing was great. After a quick change, we headed into New Orleans. First stop, the French Quarter......
Being that it was close to 10pm, almost all the stores were closed. Despite this, I would recommend the French Quarter any time of the day. We wander for a minute then made it to the adult playland known as Bourbon. By this time I had already talked to Natalie and was doing my best trying to locate her. But, as if on command, i was distracted by the HUGE ASS BEER sign. I ended up buying one of this large beers and Melissa got a hand grenade. Again, by some miracle of Morgan Freeman, we found Natty and Jamie. The shenanigans that ensured surely are recorded in some sort of photograph or video so ill let that speak for itself.
Okay, skip ahead now a few hours. Melissa and myself and wandering up and down a road looking for my friends. Thank God for her and patience, because i made her walk around with me until we finally found the bar Maison. Imagine with me, if you will, the scene from black snake moan, where they are all dancing in the bar. Its hot, sweaty and all kinds of sexy. Back to reality. This bar was the same. Hot, sweaty and sexy. Bodies moving together to a trumpet, a tuba, some drums and a bass. Hands in the hair in complete disregard for the world outside. Even though we were only there for a few minutes, it seemed like heaven. That was my New Orleans. I sat down and got to catch up with my old roommates and relive the good times we had. God i miss living down there. After that was an interesting walk back and then the drive back to Sildell...
Part 2 coming tomorrow.
